Today, a BMW X3 came to our auto service in Belgrade for scheduled maintenance. This was already the second minor service we have performed on this vehicle for the same customer.

This time, in addition to the standard engine oil and filter replacement, the customer asked us to replace the oil in the vehicle’s 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

For this transmission, we recommend replacing the transmission oil together with the transmission pan, because the filter is integrated into the pan. Dirt and wear particles accumulate there during operation. Therefore, simply replacing the oil without replacing the pan is not considered a complete service for this type of automatic transmission.

For the BMW engine, we used engine oil meeting the BMW Longlife-04 (BMW LL-04) specification. Using the correct BMW-approved oil specification is an important part of proper BMW maintenance.

During the inspection, we also checked the condition of the swirl flaps in the intake system. No urgent issue was found, but we recommended that the customer have the swirl flaps cleaned and serviced preventively during the next minor service.
